Well today, I just realize there is just some internal damage resting inside that erupts in the worst moments of life. Have you heard of this person who just finds peace in solitude, always staying locked at home, with a mirror as a best friend and comfort? That's a self-description. And just as a friend, there are days you don't get along with the image on the other side of the mirror. So, there I sit looking at the image on the other side of the mirror. Most times I see potential in the person but other times, it just shows how broken the person is. Your smile does crazy things with it but shows no sympathy when you are at the worst. However, I tend to believe I am my best comfort. Other than the mirror is a mind always racing with thoughts and fantasies. Filled with words and events in reality I cannot do. At some point, ...
| Adventure at Camp Ndunda |
As I sat on my bed thinking of what to publish in my next post, I couldn’t help but obey the after-effects of my excursion last weekend. The experience was so captivating that I thought it would be best to put it on record. So, my friends and I went camping at Camp Ndunda Falls in Embu from Friday to Sunday. This was my first camping trip. It was also in honor of a friend's birthday. Simply a whole weekend with friends out there experiencing nature. It was one of a kind.
We set off in the afternoon and arrived at around 7 pm. The reception right from the gate was at its best. Upon checking in, they did not waste time to give us a guide to help us settle; that is, to our tents, setting us a bonfire and leading us to where we had our supper. Talking of supper, they have flavorful meals to die for, especially their platters. We then got ourselves psyched out for the weekend by jamming into some of our playlists and around a bonfire to sway the night away.
Early the following day, we joined the team building that happens every weekend for Zumba and started the tour around the camp later on. Again, we had a guide who directed us on the activities to follow sequentially. According to him, it was to let our bodies gain momentum of the excitement we would encounter. So, we began with the nature trail, which led us to an activity called Wild Swing. Just like the name, the swinging is wild. It was frightening on sight as you had to swing using a chain tied to a tree, and it is at quite a height to the river beneath. It was scary for me— I couldn't even look at the ground while swinging at first, but when I got used to it, it felt fascinating. And am glad I did not miss it for anything.

Nature walks then led us to zip lining. This was relatively short, but all in all, I think the day was all about daring heights, which I think for a starter, I did well. We went back for lunch, celebrated my friend's birthday along with the team at the team building. It was evening again, and we were around a bonfire with some other people bonding and enjoying the night.
The next day, some stayed for Zumba after freshening up, while I and another one of us went for the trail and canopy walk. The morning trail was much more enticing, with the sounds rhyming with nature. Birds were chirping, the indigenous trees and green grass to give you fresh air, with few people put in the forest. We were surprised that we could get a glimpse of the waterfall more clearly than the previous day. Then, on to another height experience, the canopy walks, which was an enticing one. We also took the trail around the whole camp. Unfortunately, we had to forego archery because of time, as we had to leave. But we were so content with what we experienced.
The place is simply a haven. Not to mention how the buildings are structured, the site bears the flag of traditional and cultural vicinity. I would certainly recommend the place to anyone. It is a place you truly become one with nature. We had fun activities, enjoyed each other’s company, and took lots of pictures. There are more activities like mud fun, obstacle challenge, etc.
